About us
1993-1994 - THE BEGINNING
At the beginning of the phenomena known as the JETI model was a meeting of two people - engineers. Stanislav Jelen, a graduated electrical engineer and Juraj Tinka, a graduated homeland defender. Their first encounter took place in the town of Příbor (today's headquarters of the company) at an airfield for agricultural aircraft. It was an unforeseen connection, which gave direction to further exchange of opinions, experience with modelling and last but not least to test the electronic controller - at that time quite rare, due to the availability of the component base. Although built from standard components, this controller was functional and, above all, small. This started a partnership to build another controller, although much more sophisticated - using the SMD electronic components. The very first type of controller was named JES10 and was first introduced at a modelers meeting in Nesvačily in May 1993. Conclusion: the interest of modellers in this product exceeded expectations. The only rented room in the family house, the first two employees - that was the JETI model company in 1994.
1995-1998 GROWTH
Good price-to-performance ratio , quality of workmanship , a bit of luck too and the demand grew. The need for larger production space was solved by renting a family house. Therefore, since the spring of 1995 in a new and larger. A milestone in the history of the company was 1996, in which the company bought the first professional SMT equipment - a furnace for soldering SMD components, and in 1997 the acquisition of the first pick-and-place machine.
The primary production product was the electronic controllers for DC motors. The demand of modelers for small FM receivers resulted in the development and launch of production of the REX 4 receiver. The FM equipment area was something new for the company. The minimum of experience and professional measuring equipment was replaced by enthusiasm and endless hands-on testing with a small flying model. It turned out to be the right path and gradually the receivers REX 4, REX 5, REX 7 became very successful products of the company. The year 1998 was an important year for the company when the first microprocessor controlled controllers were developed. As you might expect, development here was not entirely straightforward - sometimes things went wrong, but behind everything were hours, days and weeks of testing to ensure that the product launched on the market was of high quality and reliable.
1999-2003 MOTORS
At the beginning of the year the company moved again to a larger premises - to Kopřivnice. And since technological progress could not be stopped, the modeller's world started to switch to the so-called AC power, i.e. the system of AC controller and motor. The first series of AC controllers were successfully produced and tested in the beginning of the year 2000. Unfortunately, the sub-supply of motors were fundamentally delayed. As a way out of the unsolvable situation, the company decided to manufacture the motors in-house with a cooperating company. However, out of the first order of 20 motors, 19 were returned, only one met the agreed specifications. Fortunately, the situation was resolved relatively quickly and the Phasor motors ended up being a very good product for the company. The situation on the market at that time was favourable for the company and an investment in the technology has proved to be a necessity for the growth. The celebration of the company's 10th anniversary was in the spirit of optimism for the company's future and the expectation of a half a millionth unit produced.
2004-2006 LLC
The formal milestone in the company's development was the transformation into a legal entity, a limited liability company, in 2004. The process of phasing out lead technology was completed in 2006 with a complete transition to lead-free technologies. The company's production continued to grow and the premises in Kopřivnice again became a limiting factor. To give you an idea, it took 10 years to produce the first 500,000 products, and the company managed to produce another half a million in just three years. The company's product portfolio remained stable (electronic speed controllers, motors, receivers, charger). The upcoming of a new generation of technology in the area of model control - the use of the 2.4 GHz band - was initially a bit on the edge of the company's interest. In a sense this was understandable, it was necessary to start from the scratch and in the very beginning it was far from clear whether this system would be viable enough. End of the year 2006 - moving again, this time back to Příbor.
2007-2011 DUPLEX
At the beginning of 2007, the company made a major decision to develop its own model control system at 2.4 GHz. Step by step, the Duplex system was developed over the course of a year. At the beginning of 2008, the receivers and transmitter modules of the new system were tested. After about half a year of testing, development and troubleshooting, the Duplex system was offered to customers. Obviously, there were still several months of solving smaller, bigger and sometimes very hard (model - ground) problems. Thanks to the entire development team and the essential support of the company management, the work was successfully completed.
The company's production schedule during this period was balanced approximately 1:1 between the controllers and the Duplex system, with a downward trend for the controllers. Several months of discussions resulted in a strategic decision to develop our own transmitter for model control. The fundamental development philosophy was to do it differently, not the same as the competition, better and simpler. The materials that were used had to guarantee long-term stability and functionality. For the first time in the history of model control equipment, non-contact position sensing of the position of the controllers was used. The development costs were astronomical for the company. In the process of preparation for the production of the transmitters, it was necessary to build new premises in the form of extensions to existing buildings. Note - by the end of 2021 the number of extensions had increased to 8.
2012-2017 SYSTEM
The first transmitter to be launched was the DC-16 version in 2012, followed by the DS-16 version in 2013. The launch of the new transmitters has been positively accepted by the modelers market. There were several factors that influenced the successful launch of the transmitters. The technical sophistication, materials and design of the transmitters offered something new and exciting for the customer. Due to the incompatibility of the different systems on the market, it was necessary to develop and produce all the links in the product chain - transmitter, receiver, telemetry sensors and software to work with the data. Due to the specific requirements of different market segments, it was logical that it was not possible to stay with one type of transmitter. In 2014, a simpler version was introduced, the DC/DS 14, and with it was also introduced the option of purchasing software to extend the transmitter's capabilities. JETI model entered the first league with its transmitters. The next logical step was the company's entry into the top tier of this imaginary pyramid of market requirements - the DS/DC 24 transmitters. A major step towards security was the use of a 900 MHz auxiliary frequency in case of interference or failure of the main 2.4 GHz frequency. All of the transmitters produced were designed for advanced modelers who were serious about rc modelling, so to speak.
2018-2023 - TRANSMITTERS
The fact to provide mainly high-end transmitters was closely linked not only to the technical design, but also to the service support or the final price of the transmitters. Therefore, over the years, the company has also started to consider entering the lower end of the market. This area is quite fundamentally limited by the end price for the customer. Therefore, it was not until 2018 that the DS 12 transmitter was launched. The general modeller public was given the opportunity to buy a good system at an affordable price - all in the broad Duplex product portfolio. If the basic transmitter options are no longer sufficient for the customer, there is the option of purchasing expansion software modules. The Duplex transmitter line has been closed with this type. Of course, the company's product range has been continuously expanded and further extended with model control components, telemetry sensors, central boxes, controllers and more, so that today the company's portfolio consists of approximately "250" assembled products.
It has been quite interesting to see the progress in the development of Lithium-Ion batteries, which the JETI model company has decided to use as primary power sources under the Power Ion brand name. From the Power Ion 1100 and 1600 mAh batteries in 2009 to the Power Ion 2600A/3100 mAh in 2016. It is still one of the best-selling product of the company - not only on the RC market.
THE PRESENT
Hand in hand with new products, it was necessary to improve the technological equipment of the company. New high reliability modular mounter, new high precision solder paste printer, automatic quality inspection machine for solder joints, new selective soldering machine, modern equipment for the development and testing needs, self-sufficiency in the production of wires and antennas, new storage and development facilities - these are just some of the investments in the company's technological equipment. An integral and essential part of the company are its employees - skilled, responsible, reliable - today a team of nearly 50 production, development and administrative staff. The company's organisational structure was changed in 2020-2021 in order to improve the quality and efficiency of management, improve the overall level of new product development and in doing so successfully enter the fourth decade of the company's history. However, the JETI model's premise and mindset has been maintained throughout its entire duration, that is: "we invent it ourselves + we produce it ourselves = Our products are completely Made in the Czech Republic".
